# E1812 — Insufficient token balance or allowance

| Property | Value |
| - | - |
| **Code** | `1812` |
| **Slug** | `E1812` |
| **Category** | `token` (Token (CIP-20)) |
| **CIP** | CIP-20 |

## What happened

Insufficient token balance or allowance.

This is the receipt's `what` text, produced by the host-call result `HostError::InsufficientTokenBalance`.

## Why it happened

The node rejected the operation with `E1812` (category `token`, Token (CIP-20)). The receipt's `why` field carries the specific cause and `context` carries structured details, when the emitter attaches any.

The normative rule is in CIP-20.

## How to fix

Increase the sender's token balance/allowance (or reduce the transfer/burn amount) before retrying the host-level token transfer, transfer\_from, or burn call.
