# E2004 — Manifest commit rejected (E\_COMMIT\_EXPIRES\_EPOCH\_WINDOW)

| Property | Value |
| - | - |
| **Code** | `2004` |
| **Slug** | `E2004` |
| **Category** | `storage` (Storage) |
| **CIP** | CIP-9 |

## What happened

Manifest commit rejected (E\_COMMIT\_EXPIRES\_EPOCH\_WINDOW): \{detail}.

This is the receipt's `what` text, produced by the node's `ExecutionError::RasCommit`. Placeholders in braces are filled from the failing transaction.

## Why it happened

The node rejected the operation with `E2004` (category `storage`, Storage). The receipt's `why` field carries the specific cause and `context` carries structured details, such as the values that filled the placeholders above.

The normative rule is in CIP-9.

## How to fix

Derive expires\_epoch as block\_height / storage\_epoch\_blocks, using the length this chain's /chain-info publishes for its chain\_instance\_id (never a compiled or cached copy), and keep it within \[current\_epoch, current\_epoch + MAX\_COMMIT\_STAGE\_TTL\_EPOCHS]; the receipt's detail carries both sides' numbers so a client/chain epoch skew is visible without node-log access.
